Behind the Scenes: Taking the Stress Out of Ordering

I feel very blessed to get to do what I love for a living. I feel even more blessed that people continue to trust me with their most important moments and memories. I do not take that responsibility lightly and I try to do everything I can to take the absolute best care of my clients possible!

One of the many services I provide to my clients is our in person View & Order Session. I know a lot of people have gotten accustomed to the online galleries. And they can be nice – especially for things like weddings. But I was finding that my clients were getting overwhelmed and having difficulty making decisions. When I made the switch to In Person Ordering Sessions – I found my clients felt so much better and less stressed because they had me there with them to guide them through the process.

So today I want to highlight six reasons that I find my clients love our View & Order Sessions, and why I love providing this additional service.

1. Easier Elimination
One of the biggest perks I seem to hear our clients talk about is how much easier it is to narrow down their portraits at our studio than through an online gallery. Depending on which session you book – my clients see anywhere from 30 to 90 images. That can be a daunting number of images to sift through and try and make a decision on what to get. But with the View & Order Sessions, I have this really wonderful ordering software that allows us to pull up pictures side by side for easy comparison. I’ve found that being able to see a couple or group of images at a time has helped a lot of my clients have an easier time making those tough decisions on what images to get rid of.

2. No Pushy Sales
I don’t know if this is a customer fear or just a photographer fear. But I always let my clients know up front – I’m not going to make them buy anything they don’t want. My goal is ultimately to make them happy. If you only need a few 8x10s – that’s great! If you want to do one of our custom collections with a couple of our signature products – fantastic! I want you to have images that you will love and cherish forever! But I’m never going to pressure you into buying something you don’t really want.

3. Active Listening
In conjunction with not being a “salesperson” – I am a really good listener! Sitting in the same room with you as you go through your images and talk about what you like, what you don’t like, what you want, what you don’t need – I am better able to help you find what’s going to be best for your specific wants. Sometimes the options can be overwhelming so having a listening ear in the room can be really helpful to guide you to the product that is going to make you the most happy! Which leads me to my next point…

4. Guiding Hand
YEARS ago – I did the whole online gallery thing and I often found people got overwhelmed, confused on pricing, and sometimes failed to ever purchase anything from their sessions because they just didn’t know where to start. Now with our ordering appointments, I realize I’m taking so much better care of you! I’m right here to guide you through how to build your own collection or to help you find ways to save a few extra dollars without sacrificing what you want. I think there’s just a level of comfort that my being there brings to those who might have questions or concerns.

5. Correct Viewing
Another reason I love doing these View & Order Sessions is that we do them in our home-studio on our big screen TV. There are two big benefits to this. First, my computer monitor and TV screen are perfectly calibrated to display your portraits in the right color and contrast so you’re seeing exactly what you will receive in printed form. If you viewed them in your screen at home – they might not look too dark or oddly saturated… because I have no idea how your monitor is calibrated. Also – bigger screen means easier viewing. You can see those details and sharpness and we can give you some pretty accurate size examples to help you pick the right size for you!

6. Expert Advice
And last but not least… at our in person ordering appointments you have the benefit of having an expert on-hand. Sometimes there are certain things that you are going to know better than me. Like a certain look or smile being undeniably your child. Things like that – I may not know. But when it comes down to which images are the strongest or why I’d choose this one for the wall and that one for wallets – I definitely know a thing or two. And I have found over the years that a lot of people do enjoy being able to take advantage of that extra knowledge.

Whether you are doing the smallest session or the largest – I strive to make your portrait process as stress-free and fun as possible. Our View & Order Sessions are one of the many ways I try to provide that extra care. Because of each of you is important. Each of you matters. And capturing these fleeting memories – that’s priceless! I want to be certain we help you preserve these moments in a way you will love forever!
