My First Attempt at a Painting!
It seems between getting prepped for our get together on Saturday, trying to get caught up on editing and album designs, and portrait orders, I don’t have much exciting to share today. I’ll be shooting a family session this morning, helping an awesome client select her senior portraits, and finishing my evening with another senior session. So I thought today I’d show you a little something I finally finished in my little time in between things. I have this big painting in my bedroom at home and one of my awesome friends came over and saw it and commented on how much she loved it.
And I was looking at it and I thought… “I think I could do that.” Now granted I knew it wasn’t really going to look anything like the one in my room since I have no real training in painting. Heck… I’ve never really painted anything before. I tend to gravitate towards pencil… it’s erasable which means it’s forgiving and I can fix my goofs easily. Paint and ink on the other-hand are rather permanent and therefore incredibly intimidating to me. But I figured I’d give it a whirl anyway. So I ran to Hobby Lobby and picked up some acrylic paints and a canvas and some brushes and decided I’d make it my little break from work.
It took me a couple weeks but I finally got it done. It’s not perfect and there are definitely things I’d change about it, but I’m pretty happy with it for it being my first painting. My house is all adorned in greens and yellows and browns and creams so obviously it makes sense that the painting in my room has those colors. I love green, and yellow is so cheery and in this woods it makes me think of Tolkien’s description of Lothlorien in the Lord of the Rings. So all those things together and this artsy nerd is giddy! haha. Well here’s a little peek at my first painting.
Well I hope you all are having a magnificent Monday! I will see you back here on Wednesday! 🙂
