Gratitude Project: Tranquil Landscapes

Gratitude Project: Outdoors

It’s been a while since the last time I shared any of my artwork from my Gratitude Project with all of you. I worried when I started up my other personal projects that I might start to let this slide. But I still find myself inspired and encouraged to take my camera outside and capture the things that fill me with joy and inspiration on those days when I’m struggling the most.

There’s still this peace that comes to me when I allow everything else to fall away. It’s just me, my camera and the beauty of the little things. It doesn’t necessarily make things better but it certainly takes my mind off of whatever is bothering me for a little while and reminds me of all the wonderful things I am surrounded by.

When I look through these images I am reminded of how much I love country living and how much peace I find out here. It really is an incredible blessing to be able to look out our big windows and see the beautiful sunsets over the farmers’ rich green fields. It’s amazing to be able to sit outside in the evenings and soak in the sounds of nature while the dogs roam the yard.

And I also look at these photographs and am reminded of how infinitely small I am. How complex a world we live in. That even flowers are composed of small, barely visible things. That water can take on multiple forms. That the sky can put on a show of pinks and oranges and blues when the sun goes down at night. That every year the farmers plant seeds, and every year the corn grows so so tall. It’s amazing… this world we live in! And I hope that I never lose my sense of wonder or take any of this for granted!
