David & Christina Wedding | Taylorville, IL | Wedding Photography

May 27, 2011

I was so excited last Saturday to be photographing David & Christina’s Wedding! These are two super sweet people who quite obviously complement each other very well. It’s wonderful when you see a couple who is just more relaxed and contented when they are together. That’s exactly the kind of relationship David and Christina have. It’s a beautiful thing to witness and be invited to share.

I got to sneak into the girls room before the ceremony and snap some photos of them getting ready. Christina’s dress was beautiful, but it was even more gorgeous when she was wearing it. I loved that Christina had this cute vintage, sequined clutch to carry around the necessities… like her lip gloss 🙂

Once Christina was all ready, I went to get David ready for his First Look at his bride. I love, love, love first looks! It is such a perfect way for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time. It’s so personal with no one else in the church… it’s just the two of you realizing how lucky you are. Christina and David’s First Look was exactly that. Two amazing individuals recognizing how blessed they are to have each other.

And then it was time for the ceremony. Christina looked absolutely stunning and her eyes never left David’s face as she walked down the aisle.

The First United Methodist Church in Taylorville is a beautiful church. I absolutely love the high wood planked ceiling.

After the ceremony we dashed outside to get a few quick pics. It was a chilly day, and I felt bad for all the girls having to stand out in the cold and drizzle. But they were all troopers, and we got some fun shots.

This is probably one of my absolute favorite pictures from the day! I love the bright green background, but most of all I love the way these two are looking at each other. It makes me sigh with a grin on my face every time I look at it.

After we got done with the outdoor shots at the church. We all packed into our cars and headed off to Shelbyville’s Winery, Willow Ridge Vineyards & Winery. I had no idea there was a vineyard anywhere near us and I was blown away by this venue! The banquet hall was absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing! I really hope I get another wedding reception here again because it was just so wonderful!

And because I like ending the post with shots of the bride and groom. Here’s a few pictures we took before the festivities of the reception began. Love this vineyard!

Here’s Christina’s answers to some questions I had for her about her wedding day:

• Where did you find your wedding dress and what brand or style is it?
I found my dress at “Elegant Brides” in Edwardsville Illinois.  The designer is Maggie Sottero (wonderful dresses with amazing corsets and an incredible fit and design). Maggie dresses are available in many stores and she is moderately priced starting at about 1,000 dollars. My particular gown was called “Viera”Have a great Friday and wonderful weekend!

• What about your bridesmaids dresses?
I chose a designer “B2” and a color “Eggplant” and had the girls choose their own style of dress. They all liked the dresses they wore and were able to choose a dress that suited their body type.

• Is there anyone you want to give credit to in the  post (florist, hairstylist, etc)?
My florist who put up with a lot from me 🙂 and also my hairstylist who took me on literally the day before the wedding because my previoushair stylist trial was awful!!!! Make sure you have a few trials and go to someone young who understandsbridal hairstyles 🙂

• What was the most memorable part of your day?
Probably the reception when I got to spend a few moments alone with my new husband. I felt very fulfilled and peaceful.

• What was your favorite detail?
My DRESS!!!!

• Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Don’t sweat the small stuff you can do nothing about. “Like the bathrooms breaking for 2 hours during your reception.” My venue was wonderful and personally drove people to their home 200 feet away to use the restroom.

• Funniest memory from your wedding day?
My 3 year old twin ring bearers Alex and Ben. Having a melt down 1 min before going down the aisle and then pulling it together and walking down with smiles on their faces after mommy saying “Ben are you ready….and Ben saying “I was born ready”….Alex said “I wasn’t born ready” sooooo cute.

• If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
I would have tried to be less stressed and be more gracious to the people who worked so hard to put this wonderful day together. “No bridezillas ladies”

• I forgot to ask, where did you guys go for your honeymoon?
Cancun. We stayed at the Royal in Cancun(gorgeous resort with beach suites) All Inclusive and adults only. Great honeymoon spot.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answers these Christina! Hopefully some of the info and advice you shared will be helpful to some of my other brides. 🙂
