This journey has been a long one and it’s far from over. Four years in and we’re still waiting for our miracle baby. Some days the journey is easier than others. Some days it completely blindsides me and I’m overwhelmed with the heartache that comes with the waiting. Opening up has genuinely been one of the most difficult but most relieving things I’ve ever done. Besides my husband, I now have friends who provide me with immense comfort and I’ve got friends all over the country who have reached out and shared their stories with me since I first opened up about this over a year ago. Knowing there are other couples on this same road is such a comfort and knowing there are other amazing, beautiful, kind-hearted women who understand the struggle is equally helpful.

When I first opened up about all of this I felt called to do it. Sharing my own struggles is really difficult for me. I get clinical and detached when I talk about my life, my struggles, my emotions. It’s hard for me to put these things into verbal words and actually feel what I’m saying. But writing about it has always been incredibly healing for me. In the past my writing has always really been just for me, but this time – something nudged me to share. And in spite of how scary it is to put my heart and soul and struggles and writing out there – knowing that my words are helping others is an exceedingly humbling experience.

These quotes pretty much sum up my thoughts on the matter exactly…

Well back to the story at hand. A couple months ago I was chatting with one of my amazingly, wonderful friends and we started talking about some of the things that keep us hanging on through this. She shared with me a necklace she loved and so as a surprise I decided to get it shipped to her. This necklace was a lovely little charm that said “I can do hard things” and also had a bead. Infertility can lead you down a long and hard road in which you find yourself on an emotional roller coaster. Getting your hopes up – believing that this time is going to be your month. And often coming crashing back to reality when you find, once again, that it didn’t work and you’re still on the waiting road. Women who struggle with this are amazingly strong – in ways you cannot possibly imagine unless you’ve been there yourself. And the reminder that we can do hard things is definitely an uplifting one!

So I want to talk about this shop a little. Charmed Collections is amazing! Whether you’re like me and struggling to have kids, if you’re adopting, if you’ve lost a baby or if you have a full house at home – Charmed Collections has some of the cutest and most beautifully simple pieces of jewelry! The store is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and run by three lovely young ladies. They met while doing adoption advocacy in their community, and as they put it “we’ve been creating glittery awesomeness ever since.” And I could not have said it better myself!

The Charmed Collection: HopeThe necklaces that tugged on my heartstrings are pictured above. As you may or may not know – I have a thing for birds. And that God moment I had a year or so ago, the one where I bird flew into my shot and it looked strikingly like stork… that certainly made me have a little more fondness for them. There’s just something about the combination of that little bird with the heart on it’s chest and the word “eventually” that gave me hope. That ever constant thought that “eventually” it will be our turn. “Eventually” we will be blessed with a little miracle. “Eventually” things tend to work out.

The second necklace I had to get as well. Inscribed on it, it says “Broken things to mend.” My whole life I’ve felt broken in one way or another. And this journey has left me feeling incredibly broken – in so many ways. So this little reminder that broken things do mend is hugely healing for me. I may be broken, but all things – through Jesus – can be healed. My body, my heart, my very soul – they are all mended in time.
