I had another post scheduled for today, but I decided to share another What to Wear Wednesday with all of you instead. As you all know, fall is hands down my favorite time of year. And I love all the different options for clothing you have this time of year with layering and accessories. Today I wanted to take a minute to talk about how your shoe choices can really make a difference in the overall feel of your outfit.

As per usual – every article of clothing and accessory can be found at Maurices. To best illustrate the impact your footwear has on the feel of your look – I’m using the same base outfit for every combination. So you’ll see the same pair of jeggings and a loose mint top in each outfit. In the upper right corner of each look you’ll see suggestions for other ways to accessorize and complete your look .

Cow Girl Casual Look
The country look is super in these days, and these suede fringed heeled boots are just too cute to pass up. But you can see how just pairing these shoes with the outfit gives it a certain feel. Take it a step further by pairing it with a matching suede jacket or denim jacket.

Structured Feminine Look
Look number two I switched out the fringed boots for these adorable little suede wedges. I love the structured feel of these shoes and you can see how making this one simple change can have a huge effect on the feel of this outfit. To take this look the rest of the way, pair it with a structured jacket. Here you’ll see that I have put two different options – I blush pink one or a leather one to match the shoes.

Dressed Up Knits
We go back to our base outfit and app a pair of grey knit ballet flats. These shoes give the outfit a more conservative, dressy-casual feel. Pair it with a loose knit sweater – maybe even belt it to give it another little accent of fun. Throw on a long necklace to complete this Dressy-Casual look.

Professional Girl
How says we can’t take this outfit to a more professional level? Keeping that same base outfit add a pair of black leather pumps. For a finishing touch throw on a black blazer. Isn’t awesome to see how something that started as a simple, casual outfit has morphed into this fully professional look?

Tough Chick
And last but not least, I had to add an edgy look too… just to prove how much your footwear can shift the statement you’re making. We go back to the base outfit and add these awesome distressed black leather boots with straps and buckles. Complete this tough chick look by adding a black leather jacket and some big chunky jewelry.

Well I hope you found this kind of fun. I think it’s pretty awesome how a few little adjustments can change the entire feel and look of an outfit. And when you’re thinking about your portrait session – don’t forget to think about your shoes! Make sure they go with the overall feel of your outfit or let them be the statement piece of your wardrobe!
