Showin’ Some Love #4

August 13, 2010

I can’t believe it’s Friday already. This week just seemed to zoom by and I have no idea where it went. I’ve just been so busy this week. I’ve been diligently trying to get caught up on photo sessions and I’m almost there. I only have Matthew Miller’s senior session from Tuesday to get up on the Zenfolio now. On top of that I’m trying to get my life organized. You know how it is, sometimes you get so caught up with life itself that the things we really want to do get pushed to the back burner. But I’m getting there.

So this week’s Showin’ Some Love is focusing on things around the house because that’s where I really want to focus my attention when I finally get some free time. 🙂

* Awesome Ceramic Tea Pot from The Salt Creek Attic
This week I had a photo shoot in Mt. Pulaski, IL. The grade school is looking for a piece of artwork – something kind of historical to put on the wall in the school office. While we, my mom, little brother, and I, were at the Museum in downtown Mt. Pulaski we decided to stop in The Salt Creek Attic. It is such a cute little shop and has some of the neatest things. I saw this awesome ceramic tea pot for $5.00 and I just couldn’t pass it up. Who knows – this may become my inspirational piece when we get around to remodeling the kitchen…30 years from now. 😉

* New Bedding from Sam’s Club
I’ve been thinking about what to do with our bedroom for a long time. I just couldn’t decide on a color scheme. Well I found this beautiful blue sign at Big Lots months ago that says “Live Simply” in a flowing script font, and it become my inspiration for the bedroom. So when I found this great deal on a bed set at Sam’s I just couldn’t pass it up! It actually comes with all 8 of those pillows, the comforter, bedskirt and valance for the window. I was pretty excited about that. Now we’ll just have to paint the head board a deep brown and and the walls a light neutral color. 🙂

* Our New Screen Door
When the tornado hit Sullivan a few weeks ago, our screen door got demolished. So once we got the roof done – it was time to get around to the screen door. My folks were kind enough to come out and my dad helped Ryan install the door. I am so thrilled with this new door. It seals wonderfully which is amazing since most of our doors don’t seal properly and it opens on the same side as the regular door.

* Key Rack
Well this one is more along the organization scheme and I bought it a while ago. But this has helped a lot with making sure we always know where the keys are. You just hang them up when you walk in the door and Ta-Da – there they are when you need to go again.

* Increased Storage and Getting More Done on the Bathroom
Many of you know that Ryan and I started remodeling our bathroom in February of 2009. We have slowly been getting work done on it. But one of the things I love about this bathroom is all the increased storage space. We added storage above the shower which you can see in the picture below, a cabinet above the toilet and a linen closet. It has been a huge help on cutting back on the number of rubbermaid tubs sitting randomly around the house. And Ryan is going to put up all the trim up this weekend. So by the end of the weekend, I’m hoping all the baseboards and trim around the shower will be up. I’m honestly more excited about this than I probably should be. 🙂

Well that’s it for this week’s Showin’ Some Love. I’ve got a wedding I’m shooting with the little brother on Saturday and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a very small intimate wedding outdoors. So it should be tons of fun! I’m just hoping it will be a little cooler than it has been lately and that it doesn’t rain.
