Pieces of Me: Essential Oils

September 17, 2014

Okay – so the video post I was going to share today is taking way too long uploading to YouTube so I’m going to postpone it to another day. Instead I thought I’d go ahead and share another Pieces of Me post. This one is about Essential Oils.

Okay so I know that essential oil use is currently the “in” thing. However, I’ve known about them and enjoyed them for quite a long time. Ryan’s mom actually used to use them for her health all the time and she has gotten back into them in recent years. Now that Ryan and I are more financially stable – we have the ability to utilize these awesome little bottles of wonder!

I know a lot of my girlfriends use the Young Living Oils. I’ve never tried them for comparison purposes, but I’m a HUGE fan of Mari-Mann Herb Garden in Decatur and I love supporting local businesses whenever I can. So for me – purchasing my oils from Mari-Mann was the perfect choice for me. You can, however, purchase any of these online through places like Amazon if you prefer. I’ll include some links for you too 😉

When I first ended up buying my current batch of oils – it was so I could make perfume, bubble bath, bath bombs, shea butter bars, and bath salts. So it was more to create something luxurious for my friends. These are the ones I got for making my scented goodies!

My mother-in-law is partial to doTerra oils and those are pretty good too. So we purchased a little Ultrasonic Oil Diffuser and Maranda gave us some of her Breathe doTerra oil. And it did make a difference. I ended up purchasing my own bottle of Now oils from Mari-Mann and their Clear the Air Essential Oil works wonders! We use it every night in our vaporizer for Ryan’s snoring and have seen a significant improvement in his breathing at night from it. I also used it recently when I had a pretty rough cold. Oh my gosh! It reminds me of VapoRub the way it clears out your nose when your all stuffed up and clears your head when your congested!

There’s a little pad inside the locket style necklace and simply put a few drops of oil on it and close it up! It was a huge help when I had that cold and Ryan would catch me sniffing it to get a stronger whiff of the fragrance. 😉 Now that my cold is gone – I use a couple of my other favorite Essential Oil Blends (Cheer Up Buttercup and Mental Focus) in it.

I went through a week where my stress levels blew through the roof and my health was dramatically effected by it. We’re talking upset stomach and digestive problems… the works. I knew my friend Hannah had some Clovertree products she swore by so I hustled over to her boutique (Willow Branch Boutique in Decatur). I snagged a couple roll on oils, Relax me and Comfort Me. The Relax Me one… Man! It helped me get through that week of stress and the week of my body re-calibrating after like no bodies business. Every time my stomach would start to act up on my or I’d feel a little nauseated – I’d rub some of the Relax Me oil on and within a minute I felt SO much better. I don’t know how or why it works, but the fact that it made me feel better when nothing else did is enough for me. I now always have a bottle of it in my purse, in case of emergencies!

I’ve used naturally Loveable in perfumes and I use Cheer Up Buttercup in refreshing our bedding once a month. I love the citrus flavors for cleaning products and the flower oils are great for perfumes and soaps.

I know this wasn’t what I had planned for today, but I’m glad I got to share these little bottles of awesome with you! I hope you find it at least a little interesting and maybe it was helpful too! Have an awesome day guys! I’ll see you back here on Friday!
