Michael & Carrie Wedding | Decatur, IL | Wedding Photography

November 9, 2012

I am so excited to be able to share Carrie and Michael’s wedding photos with you! You may remember this super sweet couple from their engagement session last October. I have had so much fun getting to know these two sweet & super fun people and it was truly an honor to be present on their wedding day to document the big I DO!

We really couldn’t have asked for a better day for these two to tie the knot! With fall weddings you never know if it’s going to be warm or cool, sunny or rainy, heck it might even snow! While it sprinkled for a bit in the morning by the time the ceremony started the rain had disappeared and left us with a nice cool day for outdoor photos.

Their day was full of fun and laughter and tons of unique personal touches that really made it one of a kind. Like Carrie’s wedding dress – which her amazingly talented maid of honor made and lined with one of Carrie’s mother’s dresses. You could just see the attention to detail for this day they’d been planning for over a year and you could see how many people were excited for them too!

Michael and Carrie – I’d just like to wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness and joy filled with lots of laughter and very few tears. Thank you so much for inviting Ryan and I into your day and letting us capture such a special time in your lives! We adore you and are just over the moon with happiness  to see you two so happy! 🙂

Here’s a peek at Michael and Carrie’s wedding!

While I had Michael and Carrie in for their View and Order session today – I got the chance to ask them a few questions 🙂

Your wedding dress was absolutely beautiful Carrie and so unique! I’m sure you’d like to give Sarah credit for her insane talent!
Omni-farious – Omni as in for fashion for all.

I really loved the guys’ tuxes! Who did you go to for those?
Mens Warehouse

You bouquets was so perfectly designed for fall and had that nice vintage flair! Who made them?
We made our own 🙂 We bought the supplies from Hobby Lobby and Dollar Store

Is there anyone in particular you’d like to thank for their help?
Pretty much everyone  but especially Sarah because she made all the dresses. Anne for being the day of coordinator. Scott Saylor for DJing the wedding, and Laura for doing the cake and cupcakes. We really appreciate everyone’s help but those were the really big players in making our day a success

Is there one funny, silly, happy, etc …moment that you’ll never forget?
We probably shouldn’t put this on the internet but me (Michael) helping Carrie go to the bathroom before the reception was probably really memorable. It was the first thing we did as husband and wife. Haha. And then we sat in the church in the pew before we headed over to the reception hall. It was a nice moment for the two of us to reflect on this huge milestone in our lives. And of course, for me (Michael), the reaction to our Thriller dance was awesome!

If you had to go back and do it all over again, is there anything you’d change?
I wouldn’t put the projector in front of the wedding cake. The poor cake was a pile of melted goop. We salvaged what we could and took it home, but the heat from the projector just melted that thing down. I also would have asked the Decatur Club if there was any left overs because the food was so good!

Any advice for future brides and grooms?
Yes! Plan! That way everything is taken care of and out of the way. Less stress. Carrie: It is only one day. And that’s something brides should put into perspective. Plan but realize there are going to be somethings you have no control over. The sooner you accept that the less stressful it’s going to be and the more fun you will have. Because it was ONE DAY! Michael: Make a list for your fiance if you want him to do something. And being married is SO much better than fiance-hood! Oh! And if you’re not going to be doing a registry – we had guests donate towards our honeymoon. We were living together already so we didn’t need things for our home so it was great that we could have a trip together.
