It’s a passion!

May 31, 2010

I started thinking the other day about how truly blessed I am to get to do something that I love. I feel like so very few people get that opportunity. Either they have trouble finding that one thing that drives them or their life situation makes it impossible to take on the risk. How lucky I am that I found something that fills me with joy and simultaneously brings joy to others!

I could probably write a small book about all the reasons I love photography, but I’ll just explain a few here.

I love people! I love when I meet someone and they feel comfortable enough with me that they can share about themselves. We all have such different experiences. I find it fun and interesting to get to know other people’s journeys and see how they have come through them. I have met some amazing people, strong people, shy people, fun people. But all of them inspire me in some way. And I love that!

I love making people feel good about themselves. I love when someone comes to me for pictures. And I can tell right away that they aren’t exactly oozing with confidence or think they are attractive. I love taking what they have shared with me about themselves and pulling that unique-ness into their photos…trying to help them see the beauty that I see in them. It’s the best feeling in the world when I can do that for someone!

I love photography for it’s permanence. What I mean is – a picture lasts a LONG time…maybe not forever, but it does last longer than our memories tend to stay. I love taking pictures that capture the joy in that glimpse of time. The happiness of a new mother over her baby boy or girl, the pure contentment of a bride and groom on their big day, the pride of a parent as their son graduates from high school, and all the little details that fade from our minds…the flowers and decor at a reception hall, chubby little legs and toes, special tokens of accomplishment like a class ring or a pendent. These are things we want to remember and can be remembered through a simple photograph.

To sum it all up. I love my job! I enjoy every minute of being a photographer and the joy I can bring to others. I am always striving to improve myself and learn more. It’s the best way for me to make sure I provide each of you with something you will love. For me, each session is an experience. An opportunity to meet someone new, bring something out in them they didn’t know was there, and provide them with fond memories that will last for lifetimes.

To all of my clients I want to say thank you for your support and love. I truly feel honored to have been invited into your lives and to be allowed to share the wonderful things that make you – YOU. I look forward to many more photo sessions with you and all my new clients to come.

Lots of love,
Stephanie
