Hannah Shaw’s Family Session | Allerton Park | Monticello, IL | Family Photography

September 21, 2013

I know it’s Saturday and I don’t normally post a Saturday blog, but I really wanted to share Hannah’s session with all of you today since they stopped by the Kirksville studio last night to view their portraits for the first time. I was so honored when Hannah asked me to take pictures for her family. Hannah’s mom and niece and her neice’s daughter were coming to visit and she wanted photographs to remember this special occasion! I met them all out at Allerton Park in Monticello and as luck would have it, these Montana residents got to experience the lovely muggy, humid weather of a Central IL summer! With 104 degree temps, these gorgeous ladies and handsome men were troopers! They had to put up with me being my typical ridiculous self too so they get extra gold stars in my book!

I adore Hannah! I think she is one of the sweetest, strongest, coolest people I’ve met. So it made my day to get to meet some of the people she loves. Especially her mom since I’ve heard so much about this amazing woman! I really had a blast with Hannah and her family. I always have a great time whenever I get to hang out with these awesome people! Here’s a quick little peek at a few of Hannah’s favorites!

And this last awesome image, you may have seen already if you follow our facebook page. Love how awesome this shot turned out to show off Hannah’s ink next to that soft, perfect baby skin. I think this portrait may be going up at Willow Branch Boutique in Forsyth when it comes in. The thought of my artwork being in Hannah’s shop makes me giddy! 🙂

I want to share one more little thing with you because it made me feel so good! Jason was talking to me while we were going through their portraiture yesterday and he was talking about how he feels some photographers take pictures of buildings and people just happen to be in front of them. Then he said “but I like what you do. You take pictures of people being people.”  That made my day! I truly feel blessed to get to document so many important moments in people’s lives. It’s truly humbling to be invited in to be a part of them.

Well I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into the Shaw family session! I had a blast creating these images for sure! I will see you all back here on Monday! 🙂

    Stephanie,

I am beyond words. Last night when you started the show for me to see all the pictures… I started crying. And yet here I am again this morning looking at these AMAZING photos and I am crying. They are so beautiful and I am so excited not only to have these memories with my family but to be able to have them in my home to see them everyday. I cannot thank you enough. You have an amazing talent. You have given me something priceless and that is me getting to see my family everyday. when some of them live so far away, seeing them smiling with me is something that I cannot put into words. Thank you is not enough!
