Some of you may not know that I actually specialize in seniors, families and newborns. There are so many reasons I love working on these specific styles. But today I thought I’d share what I love most about senior sessions. Let me start by saying… seniors – you guys are so amazing! You constantly inspire me and leave me in awe! Your drive and dedication and your knowledge of what you want is so impressive! I love working with my seniors, getting to know them better, and creating awesome portraits to showcase who they are! So here’s my 6 favorite things about senior photography!

Getting to Know You
Seniors are starting to really figure themselves at this point in their lives, and I love taking the time during your pre-session consultation to get to know them. A lot of places aren’t worried about getting to know you because they are focused on volume. There can be advantages to this, of course, but I don’t believe I can truly capture you without getting to know you first.

Showcasing Your Individuality
One of the awesome things about senior photography is getting to focus on just you. It can be easy to feel lost in the jumble of your family, classmates, teammates or friends. So in your senior session we are focusing on just you and what makes you unique! Whether your loud and outgoing or quiet and a deep thinker, I love allowing my seniors’ beautiful personalities to shine through in their portraits.

Fun and Relaxed
Having your portrait taken can be quite stressful, especially if you’re not used to being the center of attention or if you don’t like being in front of the camera. Believe it or not – I didn’t want to get my senior portraits taken when I was in high school. So I always try to make our sessions fun and relaxed. We talk and walk and crack jokes and just have fun. Because if you’re stressed and uncomfortable – it’ll show in your pictures and that’s the last thing we want!

Accessories and Props
Because we’re wanting to showcase you, I sometimes have seniors bring in things that are significant to them like old vinyls, trophies, or collections. Including these little things can add a special touch to your portraits that further tell your story. And I love getting to know you better too through these fun things that are all you!

Creating Unique Finished Product
There are so many wonderful things we can do with your portraits to create pieces that are not only beautiful but will be cherished for years. Helping Seniors See How Awesome They Are
At the end of the day, my favorite thing about senior sessions is helping them to see how beautiful and awesome they are! Some of the most rewarding moments in my life are when seniors tell me they didn’t know how beautiful they looked until they saw themselves in my portraits. If I can show these amazing young people that they are amazing and beautiful exactly as they are – I’ve done my job!
