Recently we’ve talked about tips for what to wear for family sessions, senior guys, even newborns… so now I think it’s time we offer up some advice for Senior Girls on what to wear for their senior sessions! Honestly I feel like girls have a bit of an advantage (or disadvantage depending on how you look at it) because there are simply so many options for what to wear and how to accessorize. So that makes it easy to write tons of different posts for girls… in recent years I’ve been trying to be better about sharing a little something for everyone. Anyway… let’s get started looking at some general ideas of what you ladies can wear for your senior portraits!

The Dress Shirt
Let’s start with the dress shirt. Now this can be a lot of things – this basically anything more than a t-shirt. It can be a loose flowy top or something a little more fitted. And there are so many options available to really capture who you are!

The Casual Look
This can also be a lot of things. It could be a tank top, t-shirt or a button down plaid or denim shirt. T-shirts can be fun because there are so many ways to express yourself with graphic Ts. And plaid button down shirts are super popular right nwo too!

Over the Top
Layering is always fun as it can provide countless options when being photographed. So add a cozy sweater, leather or denim jacket on top to not only express yourself but add some more interest and texture to your outfit!

Dresses
There are two ways you could go with dresses. You could wear breezy, casual maxi or sundresses or you could go more fancy and wear your homecoming or prom dress. We’ve had a lot of fun creating dramatic and beautiful images of our senior ladies in their gorgeous dance dresses, and we’ve had just as much fun creating sweet images in simple dresses too!

Accessories
Shoes, jewelry, make up, hair… there’s a bunch of ways to add more detail and express yourself in your portraits. Want to keep things simple? Go minimal and natural? Want to spice it up – add dramatic lipstick and some fun bangles!
