The Cavanaugh Family | Decatur, IL
I feel like I’ve gotten to share so many amazing families with you guys lately, and today is no different! Today I have the intense joy of sharing the beautiful Cavanaugh family with all of you! Andrea and Kim are members of my church, Renaissance. You may recall reading about Kim from our Baby Journey Update posts. Well I have a ton of love for these two girls! So when Andrea reached out to me a month or so ago about possibly scheduling a session for her extended family. Of course I told her I would love to do that for her!
We sat down and chatted about what we hoped to do for their session and where we might go. We got everything mapped out and prepped for the session day to arrive!
I met the Cavanaugh’s at Kim and Andrea’s home in Decatur on the far west side of town. They have a really lovely piece of property so we started by taking a few family group portraits behind their barn. It was a little windy but it was a lovely and fairly warm day – perfect for family portraits! Once I was happy with the family groupings we got, we made the drive out to Rock Springs to finish up their session.
This was the first time I had been shooting at Rock Springs when there was a wedding taking place. It was so different seeing the parking lot so full and the various wedding stuff being prepped like the ceremony site and bag pipe players walking around. In spite of the activity, we found a couple different fun locations at Rock Springs for their portraits. I always like to try and get a variety of “backdrops” and looks for my clients so it was fun seeing what I could do with the festivities going on.
I had so much fun spending time with this family and getting to know them a little better. Here’s a quick little peek at some of their favorites from our afternoon shoot!
