Savoring Happiness & Reliving Those Perfect Moments

January 19, 2011

Have you ever experienced a moment of utter bliss and contentment? A time when you thought to yourself, “Why can’t it be like this every day?” Sometimes it feels like these moments are few and far between. But for the past year I’ve been focusing on a new philosophy…our life is what we make it. I can choose to focus on the negatives and the stressful situations in my life, or I can concentrate on the moments that I am utterly happy.

For instance today I could dwell on the fact that I’m congested and have the sniffles. That it’s bleak and cold outside. That I have a long list of things to do that feel like they’ll never get done. But instead I’m feeling glad that I have a husband who loves me and tries his best to take care of me. That I have a roof over my head and four walls to black out the cold and wind. That I’m lucky to have so many things to do instead of nothing to occupy myself. It is so much easier to be happy and positive than one might think.

And then I think about my job, and how lucky I am to be able to help people capture those moments. The ones they want to remember forever. And that’s what I do! I help them be able to relive a moment when life was perfect. ….committing yourself to the man you love for all eternity in front of your close family and friends, seeing that little positive reading on a pregnancy test and the look on your husband’s face when you told him the good news, the love and bliss that swept over you when you held your little one for the first time taking in every detail of her perfection…. These moments are so brief, so fleeting! And it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, and forget to enjoy and savor these precious moments and feelings.

I feel so thankful and blessed every day that so many of you trust me to help you capture those moments. That you invite me into your lives and bare your soul and emotion to me so that we can help you relive those moments again and again for years to come.

My hope for you today is that you take a few minutes to think about all the wonderful blessings in your life, and that when a moment of happiness and joy comes your way that you will acknowledge it, but that you will embrace and savor the moment as long as it lasts.
