Reality Check…
I started thinking… I write a lot of posts about my awesome clients, things I like, and what I’m excited about. But I don’t often bring up my fears or worries or stress. In case you were wondering… I am a normal person – I do get stressed and worried just like everyone else.
I do have some sleepless nights…. especially since the fire. I’m living in a house with a smoker so I occasionally catch a whiff of the cigarette smoke and then start worrying that it’s a different kind of smoke. Or I worry that the stove got left on. Or that there will be another faulty wiring issue that causes a fire. You’d also be surprised how much rain sounds like the crackling of the fire too. Rainy nights often keep me awake these days. I like to think part of the worry is due to living in the upstairs of an old home… we’ll see when we move into our own home.
I stress over how quickly our house will get built. The city created some issues for us about zoning, and of course the weather isn’t in our favor these days either between the rain, snow, and sleet. I just keep praying that it warms up and stays dry long enough that they’ll be able to get the foundation of our basement poured.
I also worry about failing sometimes. Owning your own business can be scary thing. I’m putting myself out there and investing a lot of time, money, and energy into this thing I love. And for all I know – no one will like me, no one will use me, and my business could fail. There are no guarantees in the business world, especially in an industry that is flooded with other photographers. All I can do is do the best I can, try to be different and keep providing you with the best work possible.
In general – I do my best to not focus on these things. To stay positive and focus on the good things. The hopes and dreams I have. The life and love I have. That’s why I tend to talk (or write) about the fun, happy, positive things and not the negative, worry-wart things. Cause life is great!
I feel like this post needs a little picture to go with. So here’s a little gif I like to watch when I’m feeling blue. 🙂
