Well Christmas weekend is nearly here! Wow – December seems to have just flown by! It doesn’t really feel like Christmas time though does it… Where’s all the snow? And the cold? Haha – gotta love the Midwest – you never know what kind of weather to expect.

This is not a typical Christmas for us… I loved decorating for the Christmas season! In fact, I had several rubbermaid tubs full of Christmas decor. So it feels really weird to only have on tiny tree and little wooden reindeer to show my Christmas cheer.

Instead I had a little fun “decorating” our Christmas gifts. I picked out a simple wrapping paper and some ribbon I liked and made all our Christmas gifts look pretty 😉 The gift giving is my favorite part of Christmas anyway. Nothing is more fun and meaningful to me than to spend time thinking about and searching for the perfect gift, and then seeing the way the person lights up when he/she opens it. Of course some people are harder to shop for than others too, but the challenge is kind of fun. So we’ll see how we did this year.

I’m honestly kind of curious to see what we get. I’ve been joking for the past couple months that shopping for Christmas and birthdays for me and Ryan should be pretty easy for the next couple years – people can just buy us the same things they gave us the past few years since most of those things were lost in the fire. Plus, once we know what we got for Christmas it will maybe make it a little easier to decide what we’d like to go ahead and replace.

The best Christmas present I could get though would be for the weather to stay nice and dry. Nothing would make me happier than hearing that they are pouring the concrete for our foundation/basement next week! It’s been three months… and we currently have nothing more than a nice big hole in the ground. Some sign of progress would make me feel just amazing!
