This is hands down my favorite time of year! From the time I was a little girl, I have always had a love for Christmas. Of course when I was little I loved it because of Santa Clause, but I quickly realized the actual meaning behind the season. Yes, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, our Savior. But it’s about SO much more! It’s about remembering how blessed we are! When I look back at last year… where we were… and where we are now. I feel so incredibly blessed!

Last year we had so very little and yet realized how very much we actually had. We had survived a fire that wiped out our home and all our belongings, but we had each other and our lives and we were surrounded by many, many people who loved us. Friends and family offered up places for us to stay, people who barely knew us gave us clothes, dog food, and all kinds of things to help tide us over.  And prayers…. we had so many people praying for us.

I don’t think I could ever look at Christmas from a materialistic standpoint… This is the time of year to be grateful and thankful. To remember how much God has blessed us with. It’s not about getting presents or having a lot of things. It’s not about showing off what we’ve been given or how much we have. This time of year should serve as a reminder to us everyday to be thankful for what we have.

It’s one of the main reasons I love getting Christmas cards! I love seeing the faces of so many people I care about and who care for me… They serve as another reminder of what I have to be thankful for. I hope this Christmas Eve that you are getting to spend this holiday with those you love. Hold them tight. Let them know you love them. And above all – remember the reason for the season.
