This is the year of senior guys for me at Green Tree Media Photography! And I’m not mad about it! Actually, sometimes I think guys get left out a bit in the senior photography world. Girls get hair and make-up and these fancy dresses and there are entire programs built around being a model. And it sometimes feels like these awesome guys fade into the background. So I’m super happy I’m getting to talk about so many amazing senior guys this year!

Today I get to share the incredibly cool Matthew with all of you! Matthew is one of my St. Teresa senior guys and I was lucky enough to get to photograph his older sister, Erin, a few years ago. So when his mom called about doing a session for Matthew I was very excited!

Matthew is a pretty fun and creative fellow. He is on Student Council… actually he’s student body president which is quite impressive. He’s also a member of NHS so I think it’s safe to say he’s a smart guy who’s dedicated to his studies. He participates in one sport at St. Teresa, baseball, and the couple times I got to photograph sports for the school, I enjoyed watching him play. You might also be surprised to know that he plays the piano. That’s not an instrument I hear many guys play these days, and as someone who grew up playing piano – I think it’s pretty cool!

I met up with Matthew and his mom at Fairview Park on a Thursday afternoon. It was a beautiful fall day, a little cool but not unbearable, especially for a November session. And there was still plenty of lovely color in the park. I got there a little early to scout out the best spots for color and light. And when Matthew and his mom showed up we got started! We walked around stopping in various spots to get the shots I thought would highlight his kind and determined nature the best. He’s a very handsome young man so it wasn’t hard to get good portraits of him!
