Marketing and Branding
June 18, 2010
As someone who started out in the advertising industry and spent half of her college career studying graphic design and marketing, I truly understand the importance of branding and the difference it can make on your marketability and appeal to potential consumers. When I first started up my business back in 2008 I had developed a brand that made since to me. It was incredibly simplistic and generalized in part because that tends to be my style in both design and life but also because I was getting the bulk of my income from design.
Now that I’ve been in the business for a couple years, my photography clientele has increased to such a degree that I have been greatly desiring a shift in my branding. I want to focus more on the photography side of my business and in order to do that – I need my branding to reflect that emphasis.
It was thanks to the lovely ladies over at Go 4 Pro Photos (www.go4prophotos.com) that I was able to do this. A little over a month ago I was lucky enough to win in a drawing their Ultimate Marketing Kit and ever since I’ve been contemplating how to create my new brand. Well last night I started working on it and I’m thrilled with where it’s going! I’ve got the general layout for the new website put together, I’ve got a few of the marketing pieces put together and I even printed a few out on my cheapy printer to see how they looked. I took some pictures of the few pieces I photographed, and I will hopefully have them up here before too long.
I can show you a couple screen captures of the website as it appears now:
This is a very general idea of what the rest of the site will look like. It will be very simple but I think I’m going to make it a bit more interactive…we’ll see. |
I did get my new about sections written up and I’m super pleased with them. I’m going to wait to share those until the new site is completely put together. It will be a fun new surprise – I’m kind of taking the business in a new direction – something that will reflect me a little bit more. 🙂
Of course the new look for the site isn’t up online yet. I still have a long way to go and a lot more work to do. I would love to hear any of your feed back on what you see so far though. I love constructive criticism – it’s the best way to grow and evolve!
