Healthy Cells Magazine | Edna Mae & Walt | Springfield, IL
Becky from over at Healthy Cells magazine called me last week and asked me if I’d be up for another editorial shoot for them. Of course I said YES! So Monday morning I hopped in the car and drove to Springfield to meet Edna Mae and her husband, Walt, in their beautiful home.
I had no idea what to expect for this shoot, I didn’t know if I was shooting one person or some kind of care giver staff person. But the visit was absolutely wonderful! Edna Mae and Walt are just the sweetest, cutest couple! At the end of this month they will be celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary. They really should be an inspiration to all us young couples.
Gradually over time, Walt has slowly lost some of his ability to take care of himself. He loves to read the newspaper, but his vision isn’t so good these days. Yet he will spend several hours each day enjoying reading his paper. (There are some days I wish I had this kind of determination and focus.) Edna Mae does an amazing job helping him! She’s done a marvelous job educating herself about being a caregiver and finding out everything she can to make there lives easier and better. She constantly commented on how blessed they are to have amazing friends who come to see them and visit regularly.
In spite of all the obstacles these two have had to overcome in the past few years, one thing is still incredibly obvious. How much Edna Mae and Walt love each other. You can just feel it when you are sitting in the room with them. It’s in their eyes when they look at each other, and you can see it in every hug, kiss and hand squeeze. This is the kind of relationship we should all strive to find AND keep. So thank you Walt & Edna for reminding me of how strong a bond love can be and how it can help us to overcome any difficulty!
Happy Monday!
