Escalate 2010 | Julianne Kost’s Talk | Washington, IL
I thought I might share a little about the next speaker at the Escalate Live event on the blog today. Her name is Julianne Kost and she is an awesome individual! Julianne makes really beautiful and interesting photographic composites. She works for Adobe, and is one of the creators for the adobe software (so she’s incredibly smart). Top that all off with great comedic timing and a fantastic sense of humor and Julianne is one awesome package!
As a regular on Adobe TV, dishing out advice and tips on how to use the Adobe products, Julianne’s talk was largely about how to best utilize the software you have for optimum efficiency and ease. I was really interested to hear what she had to say because I’ve been doing my work the same way for…well…forever. When I started up the business I bought Adobe CS3 and I was so excited and proud to own my own copy. Creative Suite 5 is the current Adobe package that is available so I’m not too terribly far behind the times. But after seeing some of the things you can do with CS5…I’m yearning for the days when I’ll own a copy.
I also got to learn a little about Lightroom. Lightroom is another Adobe product geared towards photographers. I have not used Lightroom yet, I use Aperture and Photoshop…leaning much more heavily on Photoshop. But I do see the benefits of using a program like Lightroom. And maybe one day in the future that will be another program I will add to my post-processing arsenal.
But one of the things Julianne said that I plan on putting into effect for myself is to …” always have at least one personal long-term project. Not business related but for yourself.” I think this is really good advice. We so often get so caught up in work that we forget to take a little time for ourselves. I don’t know what my personal project will be…we’ll just have to see.
So there you have it! A little about Julianne Kost and what I learned from her. Check back tomorrow to catch a sneak peek of Marcy & Mike’s engagement pictures!
