I actually get to share one of my guy’s senior photography sessions with you guys and gals today – Mr. JD Mattingly! It’s been a few years ago now, but I actually was lucky enough to photograph his older sister’s, Ashley’s senior portraits back in 2010.

I met JD and his mom, Sherry, at St. Teresa where he attends school. It was an awesome fall day and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. I, unfortunately, didn’t get the chance to meet JD before his session because of his football schedule. But I did have him send me some information about himself so I could get to know him a little better. JD says one of the first things people notice about him is that he’s tall. And he’s not wrong – he is really tall! It’s no surprise he’s on the basketball team at St. Teresa given his awesome height, but he’s also strong enough to be on the football team too! So of course these were two things that were very important for us to highlight during his senior session.

When he’s not at school or training, JD enjoys hanging out with his friends – watching movies, listening to music, and playing pick up games too. He also loves his dog, Paris – a gorgeous yellow lab. And if you know me – you know I love taking portraits of my clients with their furry family members. Paris definitely has a puppy spirit so we had fun playing and working on getting portraits of her with JD and the whole Mattingly family. It was such a joy seeing Ashley again and getting meet her son. Spending time getting to know JD and helping to capture the whole family.
