2013 Relay for Life
This past Friday, Ryan and I headed over to Richland in Decatur to spend some time at Relay for Life. This was our first experience with the Relay – we’d never been before. Ryan’s aunt has been on a relay team for quite some time – in fact – her team has been competing in Relay for Life for 18 years! Each team usually comes up with a theme. Monica’s teams theme was “Make cancer like dinosaurs… extinct!” They did such an awesome job with their campsite! They had a fire ‘roasting’ some (stuffed) animals, a cave, robotic dinosaurs that move, and all kinds of good stuff! Ryan’s grandpa made the dinosaurs that moved! He welded them together and made them move – it’s pretty awesome! And Ryan airbrushed their banner!
It was so nice to be able to spend some time, walk some laps, support the survivors, caregivers, and those who’ve passed. In addition to Ryan’s amazing grandmother, Ruby, we’ve lost several family members to cancer. Ryan’s Aunt Joan, my Aunt Sherry, and my Uncle Steve. Everyone knows someone who’s had or been effected by cancer, and this was a great way to help raise money and show support. I have a feeling Ryan and I will be more involved with it next year for sure! Here’s a little peek:
Well I hope you enjoyed this little peek at this year’s Relay for Life! I’ll see you all back here on Wednesday! 🙂
