There’s Always A Reason

February 7, 2011

So I meant to post this on Friday, but Friday came and went – so you get to read it today. 🙂

Maybe you’re like me. Maybe you’re one of those people who says, “I’d really like to get some updated photos of my family, but I’d really like to wait til I lose a few pounds.” or “I’d love to get pictures of the kids, but there’s just too much going on right now.”

It’s so easy to come up with reasons to put off getting your photo taken – especially for us girls. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be and look perfect. There’s always 5 more pounds to lose or something more important going on. So a couple weeks ago, I asked my dear friend, Nikki, if she would be willing to go out to the park with me and Ryan and snap a few pictures of us for me.

I’ll be honest, I’d love to lose some weight – get back to where I was when we got married. And I’m working on that, but I’m not going to let that stop me from getting pictures of me and Ryan. (Who we actually are, not the “blah” posed pictures from our wedding.) And I can genuinely say, when I look at these pictures of the two of us – I don’t see the extra weight – I see how happy we are, how much fun we have together.

I guess my point is – Life is short and the years pass by so quickly. Don’t forget to take some time to document who you are, if not for yourself, then for your children. Like I already mentioned – when I look at these pictures I don’t see the imperfections but the love and happiness my husband and I share, and pretty sure that down the road – when we have kids, they’ll be noting that too.

Happy Monday!
