Some Cinemagraphic Inspiration
I don’t know about you, but when I’m home alone, I often find myself with the TV on. Most of the time I’m not even paying attention to it. It’s mostly just on for background noise for both me and the dog (Kit loves to bark at the slightest noise). But occasionally when I’m editing pictures or working on something that requires a little less direct focus I’ll put in a movie and actually get to enjoy the story and artistry of the film.
There’s two reasons I love movies. Once in a while a movie will come out that is filmed in a beautifully inspiring way. What I mean is that the way it’s shot: the lighting, the angles, the crops, the colors, … ::sigh:: … It makes me swoon. It inspires me. It sends my heart a flutter and gives me goosebumps.
One of the movies that always leaves me feeling inspired and oozing with creative juices is the 2005 Pride & Prejudice. I not only love the story, but the imagery… Oh! How I love it! Just that opening sequence with the lovely music over a glowy yellow warm sunrise. Gorgeous! There are so many moments in this movie that could be frozen in time. Here’s just a few of my favorites…
Another movie that I love oh so much for inspiration is 500 Days of Summer. There are several moments in this film where there is no dialogue. Just music and gorgeously lit imagery. And so many sweet little detail moments. As Joseph Gordon-Levitt mentions all those little things he loves about Zooey, they cinemagraphically highlight them. The stills below are a beautifully reminder that life is in the details.
Nevermind the fact that this movie makes me cry like a baby, I adore the sweet love story between Paul and Julia and the growth that occurs between Julie and her husband. But those sweet glances, the love and laughter between Julia and Paul is just beautiful to behold and makes me smile and cry accordingly.
So those are just a few of the movies I love to watch for their inspiring imagery and sweet moments. It’s just a little glimpse into some things I love. Sometime in the near future I’ll probably write a post about the other reason I love movies, but for today I think this will suffice. 🙂 I hope you’re all having a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you back here on Friday!
