New Session Process

January 14, 2011

So along with the print prices change and the new product offerings, I’m doing photo sessions a little differently this year too. My goal is to actually create a visual system for each photo session starting with the first phone call and ending with when you receive your prints &/or products. I don’t quite have all the details figured out yet, but there are a few things that have changed that you may be interested in.

As of this year, I’m requiring a meeting with the bride before we book the session. I’d prefer to do a face-to-face meeting, but a phone call is needed at the very least. I want to get to know my brides before we even book their wedding to make sure we are a good fit for each other. (If we make each other uncomfortable – it will save us both a headache later. hehe) Even with my other sessions, I’m going to create a form for myself of questions to ask my clients when booking with me. Ideally I’d like to meet before we book these sessions too, but people are busy and this isn’t always possible. So if I can learn a little about the senior, child, or family I’m shooting in advance – it will make my job tremendously easier and help create photos that are unique to you!

The other thing that I’m doing differently this year is having a viewing session. This can be the same day as your shoot or you can schedule a different day. Basically, after we finish up your session, I’ll come back to the studio and load your photos onto my computer. You’ll be able to go through and select which photos you want to order right then and there. By doing it this way, I’ll save tons of time on editing pictures that don’t get ordered and it saves you the money I would have had to charge to keep editing all the pictures I was taking.

As I mentioned before I’d like to add a design option to the viewing session too. If you know where you want your photos displayed – let’s say on the wall above your sofa – you can send me a photo of the space with a yard stick in the photo, and I will create a custom wall display for the image or images you’d like hung there. I think it would be a nice way to help clients go from and vague idea to an actual visual that they could have created for their home. We’ll just have to see if we have anyone interested in this service.

So there it is! That’s one of the final changes to let you all know about. As I get things figured out and a little more honed, I’ll let you know more details. I hope everyone’s had a great week! Enjoy your weekend!
