Today is another day where I get to share this very special family with all of you! Jarred and Laramie are two of our dearest friends. We met them early on when we first started attending Renaissance – and the proverbial ball of friendship started rolling at great speed. Laramie and I had been talking about doing some family portraits for them for a while. So when she reached out to ask if I was free on September 4th – I was over the moon to be able to schedule her family session.
We decided to make this a big family session and include both her extended family and Jarred’s. I always love the opportunity to capture whole families. As we get older, our families grow and change rather rapidly, with marriages and babies. And these are important changes that should be documented… important people we want to embrace into our family fold!
I met with Starla (Jarred’s mom) and Laramie and we talked through the ideas and plans they had in mind for their session. September 4th was actually Laramie’s daughter – Poppy’s – Birthday. So we planned to do the family portraits before everyone arrived. It made it easy since everyone was already going to be there to celebrate the birthday girl. And it gave us plenty of time to get them all done before the bulk of the family arrived.
We could not have asked for nicer weather. No rain – so the ground was nice and dry. The trees are still green and the sun was setting perfectly so that we had my favorite lighting arrangement in Jarred and Laramie’s backyard. Everyone looked so good and did such a good job being patient as I arranged everyone for the portraits. I loved that we were able to do the whole families and then individual family groups. I think that’s so important!
I had a lot of fun working with the Street and Hutchens families. Here’s just a little peek at a few of their favorites!
